Answer to Accreditation and WASC Questions

It seem as if there are many community questions concerning WASC and school accreditation. We at LUHSD try to be as transparent as possible and would like to answer some common questions.

Lassen High School is fully Accredited

One of the biggest questions we get is whether or not our high schools are accredited. The answer is they are. You can check accreditation through the ACS WASC directory

Who is in charge of accreditation

The Accrediting Commission for Schools (WASC) is in charge of our accreditation. According to the WASC website, WASC is one of six regional accreditation agencies in the United States. They work with 18 associations in a joint accreditation processes that includes the California Department of Education (CDE) to create a standardized process.

You can find more information about accreditation on the WASC website at

Lassen High School is working within the normal WASC process to improve our school and keep our accreditation. All schools are continuously working on improvements that conform to the accreditation process outlined by WASC to keep their accreditation. The accreditation process is explained very well on the WASC website
