What is Distance Learning

Due to COVID-19 schools around the world are using remote learning tools give students access to quality education even when they cannot be physically in class. Distance learning is instruction in which the student and instructor are in different locations. This may include interacting through the use of computer and communications technology, as well as delivering instruction and check-in time with their teacher. Distance learning may include video or audio instruction in which the primary mode of communication between the student and instructor is on-line interaction, instructional television, video, telecourses, or other instruction that relies on a computer or communications technology. It may also include the use of print materials incorporating assignments that are the subject of written or oral feedback.

How is Lassen Handling Distance Learning?

Lassen Union High School is conducting distance learning through Microsoft Teams. This platform is free for students and can be accessed from any device (phone, tablet, PC, or Mac). We understand that this is new to many parents and students and this page is dedicated to providing resources and training on how to best use Microsoft Teams and other online tools.

We believe learning these tools will help your student not only with distance learning but with college and career readiness. The tools used in distance learning help students be more independent, self-reliant, organized, and can even give more access to information through online accessibility.

Below we have included links to help parents and students learn Microsoft Teams and other online programs.
