It is with great pleasure that the Lassen Union High School District announces Mr. Morgan Nugent as the Superintendent/Principal beginning in the 2019-2020 School year. Mr. Morgan Nugent is finishing the current school year as the principal of Osan American Middle High School in South Korea.  This school is with the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activities (DoDEA) and serves military families stationed overseas throughout Europe and the Pacific region. Mr. Nugent has been with the DoDEA for the last 10 years, serving as a principal at Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan, and as a principal at Osan Air Base in Songtan, South Korea. 

Mr. Nugent grew up in Bridgeport, California where his family still resides and stated, “It has been an honor to serve the military members and their families overseas these last 10 years. However, I am very excited to be returning back to where my home has always been, the Eastern Sierra’s.” 

A former social studies teacher and coach who has taught in both California and Missouri. Mr. Nugent has a long history of working with his staff, parents, students and community members in enhancing educational programs that ensure that students have the tools and resources to be college and career ready.  He is looking forward to working closely with the Lassen community to maximize the opportunities for all of our students.  Mr. Nugent believes that continuing to build a close partnership with Lassen Community College and a strong Career Technical Education program is critical for the success of our communities. 

Mr. Nugent brings his broad academic and leadership experience to build on the progresses that have been made by Mr. McCabe and his Administrative team.  He will be arriving in Susanville in July and working with Mr. McCabe to ensure a smooth transition.
